Welcome To The Wingate Church of Christ Homepage
Who We Are
Members of churches of Christ are a people of restoration spirit...striving to BE members of the Church one can read about in the New Testament. The only way we know this can be accomplished is to believe what is taught in both the Old & New Testaments (2 Timothy 3:16, 17), and to respond in the way and manner which faith (Romans 10:17) demands. The first Christians (Acts 11:26) in the time of the Apostles were members of that church. If we believe and obey the same message they heard and obeyed, then the Lord will add us to the same church (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15,16; Acts 2:38-41, 47). Because of this TRUTH there are no other rules, regulations, professions, or ceremonies apart from the Bible which one must follow in order to become a member of the Lord's church (Matthew 16:18). Once added to the Lord's church by Him we are not members of any denomination nor do we wish to be. We are content to be where the Lord has put us. Think about it. There were no denominations in the first century. All those have come since that time. Let us go back before divisions occurred; back to New Testament Christianity. You are invited to bring your Bibles and study with us. Help us restore Christianity as it was practiced in the days of the Apostles.
About Our Congregation
We recently celebrated our third anniversary as a new congregation in Union County. We are yet a relatively small congregation but already have plans for expansion as the need arises. We hope you will come grow with us.
We realize many people are uncomfortable with the thought of visiting a "new or strange" congregation. We hope this note will ease your mind.
First, when one visits with us, he/she may expect to be greeted warmly and sincerely. We WELCOME all our visitors; we want you to feel comfortable. You can expect a smile and a handshake from many of our members.
Second, you will immediately be struck by the fact that at the Wingate Church of Christ there are no "long faces". We are a happy people, and happiness cannot be kept from showing.
Something else you will notice is that we do not use musical instruments in our worship. We just use lots of singing from the heart. We invite everyone to join in as we "sing and make melody to the Lord". (Ephesians 5:19).
We also make available to everyone the opportunity to take the Lord's Supper. We do this every Sunday, the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). You, as a visitor, will be the only one to determine whether you join us in this memorial. It is your decision.
On Sunday we give people the opportunity to contribute their offerings as they see fit (1 Corinthians 16:2). As a visitor you are not under any obligation to contribute.
At the end of the sermon an invitation is offered which is designed to encourage any who wish to respond to the Lord's command and become Christians, or to any who have (after becoming Christians) publicly sinned and want to confess their sins and ask for prayers (James 5:16). No pressure is EVER exerted; no one will embarrass you by personally asking you to respond. If you wish, you may. It is YOUR decision.
Our worship is closed with a prayer. A man, previously selected, will lead us in that prayer. We silently follow. When it is ended, it is our signal that we are dismissed. We hope you will visit us. You will profit spiritually from this visit.
Questions That Require An Answer
Almost 2000 years ago the Apostle Paul wrote, "...The churches of Christ salute you". Romans 16:16. If you are searching for the truth of God's word then we salute you as well. We are glad your search has led you here. May God bless your efforts to learn and grow in your knowledge of and relationship with Him.
WHAT IF THE LORD WERE TO RETURN RIGHT NOW? DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE, WITHOUT A DOUBT THAT YOU WOULD GO TO HEAVEN TO BE WITH HIM FOREVER?
Unsure of your answer? Check out the study on our Bible Studies page.
DO YOU BELIEVE THE GOSPEL?
Did you answer yes? That is great but did you know that the demons believe as well? (James 2:19) You see it is not just believing the Gospel that matters but it is OBEYING IT THAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT. How important is it? Look at 2 Thessalonians 2:8. Jesus is coming back and He will take vengeance on everyone who has not OBEYED the Gospel.
WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?
Perhaps you are not even sure what the Gospel is, much less whether you believe it. We can show you from God's Word exactly what the Bible says the Gospel is.
WE WOULD LIKE TO SHOW YOU WHAT GOD'S WORD HAS TO SAY ABOUT IT.
We would appreciate the opportunity to tell you in person how to obey the Gospel of Christ. Why not visit one of our worship services or Bible studies. You can find the answers for which you have been searching. If coming by in person is not possible for you, read through our Bible Studies page before you leave. It could do your soul an eternity's worth of good.
THANKS AGAIN!
Thanks for stopping by our web site. If you are in our area make plans to worship with us. We would love to meet and visit with you.

Is It Possible To Live A Righteous Life In A Godless Environment?
The answer of course is "YES!" Daniel of the Old Testament is probably our best example of someone who did it with class.
You may remember that as a Jewish lad, Daniel, along with his three compatriots, was taken captive into wicked Babylonia. Throughout his life, he demonstrated God's faithfulness by choosing to live righteously amidst life-threatening pressures to conform otherwise.
HERE'S THE BOTTOM LINE: Daniel lived in Babylonia, but Babylonia did not live in Daniel.
FOUR OBSERVATIONS ON HOW DANIEL DID IT:
1. DETERMINATION — Daniel determined in his heart not to eat the king's defiled food.
QUESTION: Working as many of you do in the market place where compromise is a daily occurrence, have you determined in your heart to not take the first step toward defilement?
2. DELIVERANCE — Daniel chose to believe God for deliverance amidst humanly impossible circumstances.
One example was Daniel's commitment to interpret the king's dream before God guaranteed him the interpretation. Failure would surely cost him his life. (Daniel 2:1-23; Key vs. Daniel 2:16; See Daniel 6:6-23)
QUESTION: Are you willing to take steps of faith (when warranted) that could cost you an account, diminish your production, or otherwise adversely affect your career?
3. DEPENDENCE — In times of crisis, Daniel chose to be dependent upon his compatriots.
In the instances cited in 1. and 2. above, Daniel enlisted the support or prayers of his three Jewish companions. (Daniel 1:9-20; 2:17, 18)
QUESTION: Are you locked in with a team of friends whom you look to for mutual moral and spiritual support? Or are you choosing to tough it out alone? (Ecclesiastes 4:9, 10)
4. DECENCY — Daniel chose to live a life of uncompromising decency.
After interpreting the king's dream he chose not to yield to the king's influence by accepting his gifts. (Daniel 5:17; Consider also Daniel 6:1-5)
QUESTION: Has your moral integrity been compromised by receiving gifts or favors from those in positions of power or authority? (Proverbs 23:1-3)
THE BIG QUESTION: "You are in the world, but is the world in you"? (John 17:13-19)
